Can you give an overview of your role?

As the Production and Transport Supervisor, my day typically kicks off by ensuring that the day’s loads have departed on time, and quickly troubleshooting any that haven’t. From there, I handle driver and vehicle compliance, managing maintenance and load security checks. Once those are sorted, I focus on transport planning, making sure the next day’s trucks are fully loaded and ready to go.

Can you talk a bit about your career/educational background before Widnes Galvanising?

I first got into transport while working at Evri (formerly Hermes), where I was responsible for dispatching and debriefing drivers, handling anything that went wrong on the day, and making schedule adjustments on the fly. After that, I took a parenting break and explored other passions, but I soon realised how much I missed the hustle and bustle of the logistics world.

My educational background isn’t directly linked to transport; I’m currently studying for a BSc in Psychology, with a focus on sport psychology. I’ve always been fascinated by performance and motivation, which I believe ties in well with my role here.

Why did you want to join Widnes Galvanising?

I was drawn to Widnes Galvanising because I wanted to get back into the transport industry, but with a different kind of energy — less corporate, more hands-on. I was especially interested in joining a smaller, tight-knit company where you’re more than just a number. The opportunities for career progression were a big pull for me, too. I’m always striving for more, and Widnes Galvanising seemed like the right place to grow.

What are you looking forward to in your new role?

I’m really excited to get a deeper understanding of the galvanizing and steel processes. There’s a lot to learn, and I’m keen to get stuck in. I’m also looking forward to playing a part in streamlining operations and helping the business grow.

Is there anything you’d like to tell us that we haven’t asked?

I’m genuinely excited to be part of the team and looking forward to learning as much as I can, especially from the experienced transport professionals around me. I know there’s a wealth of knowledge here, and I’m keen to absorb as much as possible so I can continue to grow and improve in my role. I’m not afraid to ask questions, get stuck in, and push myself to become better every day.
