Whilst hot dip galvanising is used for large fabrications such as fencing and guardrails, spin galvanising protects small parts such as hinges, nuts, bolts, and bracketry. These essential fixings must be as rust-resistant as the steel structures they support.
The parts are too small to galvanise in a hot dip galvanising bath. However, with spin galvanising, they can be placed in a perforated basket and immersed in molten zinc. Once the zinc/iron alloy layers form, the basket is centrifuged at high speed so that the spinning action removes the excess zinc and creates a clean profile.
